Assisi and Rome Sisters collaborate with UST

HOUSTON - From June 1-26, 2010, Sister Damien Marie Savino, FSE and Dr. Bermard Bonario led students of the University of St. Thomas on a three week intensive study abroad program and pilgrimage in Italy. While on pilgrimage, the students earned credit for Theology and Art History courses as they spent time in Assisi, Florence and Rome studying Catholic culture and heritage that is uniquely preserved in the history, land, art and architecture of these richly historic cities. Through collaboration with the Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist in Assisi and Rome, the students took part in hands-on experiences of Franciscan Spirituality as they worked on the land with the Sisters, prayed, made authentic Italian meals and spent time with the local people.
