POCATELLO, ID (11-24-2012) - On Saturday, November 24, the Franciscan Sisters and families of St. Bernard’s Parish and the surrounding communities gathered together for a day of reflection on the meaning of Advent. The day was filled with lessons, sharing of traditions, prayer and blessing. About 15 families joined together to learn more about the season of Advent and to prepare for the coming of Jesus Christ through the many traditions of Advent.
While the adults met and shared thoughts about the season and its applications to their daily lives; the children met and participated in activities helping them to understand and deepen their faith. Sister Rose led the adult group with the help of Sister Anthony Marie. Sister Mary Paul, Sister Mary Matthew and Sister Maria David worked with the children.
The morning sessions culminated with Mass.
After a delicious lunch, prepared by a number of parishioners, the participants gathered in family groups and made Advent Wreaths for their homes. At the time of the blessing of their wreaths, each family shared how they as a family would work together to prepare for Christmas. The pastor of St. Bernard’s, Father José and Deacon Jeff blessed each wreath and family in a closing Para-liturgy service.
All enjoyed the day and were very appreciative of the time spent together in prayer and reflection.
