POCATELLO, ID (08-17-2013) - Sister Rose Mesa, FSE celebrated 50 years of vowed religious life at a Mass in Pocatello in the presence of her family, friends and the Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist. At left, Sister Rose receives a blessing from Mother Shaun Vergauwen, Mother General, after renewing her vows into the hands of Mother Shaun. Sister Anthony Marie Greving awaits her turn to impart a blessing also on Sister Rose.

In her 50 years of religious life, Sister Rose has served in many missions including Spokane, Washington, Juneau, Alaska, Meriden, Connecticut, Lowell, Michigan and the Holy Land where she founded the Holy Child Program for children suffering from trauma. Sister has lived in the Pocatello community since 2008 and is a counselor at the Franciscan Counseling Center.

Following the Mass, a reception was held at the Franciscan Sisters' home on Truckerville Road.

In addition to the bread and the wine, the offertory procession included items of significance to Sister Rose. In light of her name, Sister has always had an affinity for roses. Of special note are the book cover (far left) representing the Holy Child Program in the Holy Land, and a carved depiction of Guam (right front), Sister Rose's native homeland.
