Sisters join in March for Life

Jan. 22, 2015 - Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist, in keeping with their dedication to promote the dignity of human life, led groups to the annual March for Life in Washington, DC. Sister Lucia Treanor, FSE traveled with Grand Valley State University Students for Life from Michigan. Sister Paul Mary Dreger, FSE of Duluth, Minnesota and 150 college students rode by bus for 14 hours one way to the event. Sister Damien Marie Savino, FSE, professor at the University of St. Thomas in Houston, led a group of 37 students. The Texas pilgrims stayed overnight at St. Philip Parish, Falls Church, Virginia and were hosted by the Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist who live in the parish convent. The Falls Church Sisters also attend the March for Life every year. Sister Clare Hunter, FSE, Director of the Respect Life Office for the Diocese of Arlington, organizes pro-life activities for thousands of visitors who come to the March for Life. Sister Suzanne Gross, FSE, Coordinator of Pro-Life Ministry for the Archdiocese of Hartford organized the trip to Washington, DC for 148 people of the archdiocese. The Sisters in Pocatello, Idaho drove across the state to Boise to be a part of the Pro-Life event held there. In every center the Sisters joined in prayer for the end to abortion and the legal protection of unborn children.
