Sister Mary Mercy

Robyn Lee, editor, enters novitiate; named Sister Mary Mercy

MERIDEN, CT (05-29-2016) - Robyn Lee of Cheshire, Connecticut, was received into the novitiate of the Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist on the Solemnity of Corpus Christi in the Chapel of St. John, the motherhouse chapel. Robyn is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Lee of Cheshire. She has six siblings and twenty eight nieces and nephews.

Robyn has pursued a career as an editor and writer and founded Lee Publishing Services. Her professional work included positions with National Catholic Register, managing editor of CatholicMatch Institute's Faith, Hope and Love blog and managing editor of the well-known Catholic Digest and editor of The Catechist. As she explains in her blog posts, she had her own business, her own house and career and yet continued to search for what she ultimately was to do with her life. In her post, CatholicMatch Matched Me With Nuns, she explains her story. She received her undergraduate degree in Philosophy with a minor in theology from Christendom College and her Masters of Arts in Dogmatic Theology from Holy Apostles College and Seminary.

In celebration of the Year of Mercy and recognizing Robyn's spiritual gift of mercy to those in need, Mother Shaun Vergauwen, Mother General, gave her the name Sister Mary Mercy. In Robyn's request for novitiate, she referenced the Year of Mercy and the significance it has had for her during her time of postulancy. As a novice, Sister Mary Mercy wears the habit and veil of the Community and will spend the coming year studying in greater depth the charism of the Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist and the meaning of the vows of chastity, poverty and obedience.

The Community heartily welcomes Sister Mary Mercy into this next phase of relationship and formation.
