Franciscans welcome George Mason University students

MERIDEN, CT (3-23-2011) The Franciscan Sisters and Brothers of the Eucharist recently welcomed 13 Catholic Campus Ministry students of George Mason University, Fairfax, Virginia, to Meriden. During their spring break these young Catholic men and women decided to volunteer their time at local soup kitchens and shelters, as well as working with the land and animals along side the Sisters and Brothers. They prayed with the community, attended Mass and shared community life with the Franciscan communities. The students also attended programs on St. Francis of Assisi and Theology of the Body. Everyone was excited to see the dedication and enthusiasm of these young people; it was hard to see them leave. May they continue to be an inspiration to everyone they encounter. Pictured are a few of the students who participated in this alternate spring break experience.
