Five Sisters celebrate jubilees

MERIDEN, CT (07-19-2012) - At the conclusion of the annual July meeting, the Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist held a Mass and dinner to celebrate the anniversary of vows of five Sisters. Sister Zita Senzig marked 60 years of vows. Sister Dorothy Hood, Sister Mary Colman Pyle, Sister Bernardone Rock and Sister Marcia Ternes celebrated their 50th jubilee.

The golden jubilarians had each celebrated in their local centers prior to the larger Community celebration. (See story in Meriden Record-Journal on Sister Bernardone Rock and Sister Marcia Ternes and slide show of celebration.)

Sister Zita lives in the Assisi, Italy center. Sister Dorothy Hood is a member of the Bridal Veil, Oregon center where she teaches part-time at Mt. Hood Community College and ministers at The Sorrowful Mother Grotto gift store. Sister Mary Colman is a social worker in the Lowell, Michigan center. Sister Marcia, also a social worker, has spent the last year in the Holy Land as the superior of the center and will be the superior of the Bridal Veil Center beginning in August. Sister Bernardone is on the faculty at Saint Meinrad Seminary, Saint Meinrad, Indiana where she teaches music.
