Sister Anne Clare Keeler, FSE honored for excellence
BRIDAL VEIL, OR (04-09-2016) - The Oregon Montessori Association presented the Susie Huston Memorial Award for Excellence in Teaching to Sister Anne Clare Keeler, FSE, Ph.D. at its annual Spring Tea held at Sunstone Montessori School in Portland. The Susie Huston Memorial Award, a long-standing OMA tradition as described by the Association, is given each year to a Montessori educator who exemplifies excellence and inspiration in teaching. Recipients are nominated by their colleagues in the Montessori community. Susie Huston was a long time Montessori guide whose life was tragically ended in a car accident in 1992. According to OMA, the award seeks to recognize nominees who are passionate about Montessori, who demonstrate a deep understanding of the Montessori method and have integrated theory and practice with grace.
Sister Anne Clare has been involved with the Franciscan Montessori Earth School, Portland, since its early years. She now serves as Curriculum Director for the school and Guide for Lower Elementary, and is a member of the Administrative Team. She holds degrees from Trinity College, Washington, D.C., the University of North Carolina, the University of Freiburg in West Germany, and Boston College. She received Montessori elementary training in Bergamo, Italy, and training in Catechesis of the Good Shepherd in Houston.
Sister Anne Clare is a member of the Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist, living with her Community of Sisters in Bridal Veil, Oregon.
